Sunflower Children's Hospice Trust | Get Involved

How can you help?

If you live in the UK and are interested in helping us support Sunflower Children's Hospice and the fantastic work it is doing in very difficult circumstances in South Africa, then there are a number of ways that you can get involved:

As crass as it sounds, money really does make the world go round, particularly if you are a child in poverty trying to cope with a life-limiting condition. If you feel able to make a donation, either as a one-off or on a monthly basis, then please go to our Virgin Money Giving page. We are registered for Gift Aid, so as a UK citizen, for every pound you donate, the UK Government will give us an additional 25p.

If you'd rather donate the old-fashioned way (i.e. directly into our bank account), the details are as follows:

Bank: NatWest
Account name: Sunflower Children's Hospice Trust
Sort code: 01-03-32
Account no: 76928802

If you're going to donate this way though, please do let us know (info@sunflowerchildrenshospicetrust.org.uk) so that we can get you to fill out a Gift Aid form.

If you have an idea for raising money for us, we'd love to hear about it in advance. We may even be able to help drum up a bit of additional sponsorship for you. Drop us an email at info@sunflowerchildrenshospicetrust.org.uk

And if you'd like to do something but find yourself lacking a bit in inspiration, let us know. We might be able to help with that too!

Writing funding applications

We can always use help in applying for funds from non-governmental organisations and other charitable bodies who have an interest in funding organisations and projects like ours. These are detailed application processes which take a lot of time and thought (just as they should be - these organisations need to know that their hard-raised cash is going to the places where it can do the most good), but they are incredibly rewarding to pull together and it's a great way to work as part of a team to serve a fantastic cause. We need people who can help us research sources of funding, pull together budgets, write proposals and ultimately help us collect data on and monitor the performance of the projects. If you think that you could help us with any part of that process then, again, let us know.

Two immutable truths: 1) Charities often struggle to stand out and make their voices heard; and 2) good imaginative thinkers are hard to find. You might be surprised just how much use you could be to us if all you have are a few sketchy ideas and a desire to use your creativity to do something good. Get in touch - at the very least we'll buy you a coffee and you'll have made a new friend.

If you're looking to roll your sleeves up properly for a couple of weeks and do some volunteering, then we might be able to help you. Sunflower Children's Hospice runs a volunteer programme, through which interested individuals can "muck in" at Sunflower House and in its community programmes. It's an opportunity to see up close the incredible work that the team does for some of the poorest and poorliest children in the Free State, although we warn you: we have no control over what they might ask you to do to help!

If none of the above is for you, but you still find yourself interested, or if you're just the friendly type, get in touch anyway. You never know what might happen!
